Bronnbach Measuring and Testing Center

Material testing under environmental influences

Materials and products are subject to changing environmental conditions such as temperature, humidity, light and pollutants. At the Bronnbach Measuring and Testing Center, a wide range of measuring procedures and analysis methods are used to test materials for their resistance to these environmental influences.

With our analysis equipment, weathering tests, surface examinations, but also more comprehensive material analyses can be done.

Our offer

Service

  • Weathering tests and corrosion analysis
  • Evaluation of surface structures
  • Analyses at variable temperature and
    humidity
  • Examination of weathered coating
    material
  • Non-destructive analyses of materials and products
  • Complementary spectroscopic examination methods for materials analysis

  • Structure elucidation and identification of chemical compounds (e.g. color pigments, polymers, paint, oil and wax film components).
  • Large-scale investigation of chemical changes by mapping (e.g. detection of corrosion damage caused by environmental aging processes or artificial weathering)
  • Investigation of insulation and other materials at extreme temperatures up to 1500 °C, defined atmosphere and changing climatic conditions
  • Fiber corrosion tests on insulation material to determine the dissolution behavior
  • Investigation of the causes of damage to historical buildings, monuments and art objects

Equipment

  • Climatic cabinet
  • Light microscope and scanning electron microscope (SEM) (with cooling table)
  • Energy dispersive X-ray spectroscope (EDX), FTIR spectroscope and ATR infrared spectroscope, infrared spectroscope, infrared microscope
  • Thermo-optical measuring instruments (TOMMI plus and TOM-AC)

KlimaTOM

The KlimaTOM measures dimensional changes (strain, shrinkage) with an accuracy of 0.4 μm. The non-contact measurement can be applied to a wide variety of materials and products, e.g. building materials/automotive industry, electronics.

Glass dosimeter

The glass dosimetry method is used to detect environmental influences on objects indoors and outdoors. It measures the effect of pollutants, acids, relative humidity and temperature in interior rooms, showcases, depots and industrial plants.
