Measurement of physical properties of glass

Analyse stresses in the glass and avoid glass breakage

As one of the oldest glass research institutes in Germany, Fraunhofer ISC has at its disposal not only chemical but also numerous physical analysis methods for determining the physical properties of glasses, glass ceramics and enamels.

For example, knowledge of the stress distribution in tempered architectural glass and automotive glazing is essential for reliable application. Stress measurements are also often the key to finding the cause of glass breakage in cases of damage.

Our offer

  • Optical stress measurements
  • Mechanical strength
  • Optical properties (transmission, reflection, absorption)
  • Thermal properties (thermal expansion, glass transition, etc.)

  • Viscosity
  • Dielectric properties
  • Glass structure analysis (XPS, NMR, etc.)
